🍇 Malvasía Volcánica (Indigenous to the Canary Islands)
Region: Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain (DO)
Notes: The conditions of the Lanzarote region are some of the most extreme viticultural conditions. In the 18th century, a massive volcano explosion covered the island with lava several meters thick. Because of this the vine must be dug below the thick infertile volcanic soils called a boyo. This also protects the wines from many of the other extreme climate conditions. This wine is extremely expressive because of the harsh environment the grapes grow in. This wine has a touch of naturally residual sugar from late harvest grapes. Medium bodied, bright acidity with good amount of volcanic and salt minerality. The palette is aromatic and fruity, with notes of white flowers and tropical fruits.
